God blesses His church with pastors as gifts (Eph. 4:10-12) and their work is intimately associated with the salvation of souls.
God has also blessed the LCMS with two excellent seminaries in St. Louis and Fort Wayne. Through a combination of residential programs and distance education programs, they form pastors and deaconesses for service in the LCMS. Through their graduate degree programs, they also provide formation for theological scholars who serve in the LCMS and in the church worldwide. In addition, the theological faculties of the seminaries provide theological expertise and leadership for the church through writing, speaking and serving on various boards and commissions.
All of these efforts are offered in service to the gracious God, "who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:18-21).
I hope you find the pages in this "Pastoral Education" section of the Web site to be helpful.
May the Lord of the Church bless you and your service to Him in every way!
Rev. Dr. Glen D. Thomas
